"You can't change how people treat you or what they say about you. All you can do is change how you react to it."
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR VISIT
Perhaps you're down or anxious - maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship, or just feel that you aren't living the life you were meant to lead. Whatever your needs may be, I am here to offer support. Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery, and in my sessions I promote behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook and the adoption of new attitudes and reactions. I have the tools and professional experience to help you get back on track.
I have been working in the therapeutic field for over 14 years providing an array of inpatient, home-based and outpatient services. I have experience treating children, adolescents and adults struggling with dysfunctional behavioral issues, substance abuse, depression, anxiety and emotional regulation, as well as mental health and trauma-related issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar. I am adept at customizing and integrating various therapeutic techniques and tools for my clients to aid them in being successful during their life journey. I am passionate about helping others reach their goals of living their best life possible.
My approach to counseling is using is primarily Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT); however, I use expressive therapy as well. CBT will help you become aware of your self-talk and how it impacts your thoughts and feelings. Once you become aware of those two things you are able to reframe from using those negative thoughts.
Expressive/play/art therapy allows people to become aware of what is going on with them through a different technique which at times can feel "safer" and is one of the best ways to work with children (though I use it with many of my adult clients as well).
